Great Britain, North Ireland & The Republic of Ireland each have their own Heritage, History, Traditions & Customs

Please join with those countries of the British Isles and help celebrate their customs and contributions to our Canadian heritage and history.
March 2025: Irish Heritage Month in Canada, to recognize the important contributions that Irish have made to building Canada, and to Canadian society in general, and should mark the importance of educating and reflecting upon Irish heritage and culture for future generations by declaring the month of March as Irish Heritage Month.
March 1st. St. David’s Day, is the feast day of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales.
March 5th. St. Piran’s Day and is the Patron Saint of Cornwall.
March 10th. Commonwealth Day, replacing the former Empire Day, is the annual celebration of the Commonwealth of Nations, often held on the second Monday in March.
March 17th. St. Patrick’s Day, the Feast of Saint Patrick is a cultural and religious celebration celebrated by the Irish.
March 20th. Vernal equinox The March equinox or northward equinox is the equinox on the Earth when the subsolar point appears to leave the Southern Hemisphere and cross the celestial equator, heading northward as seen from Earth.
April 2025: England’s Heritage Month in Canada. The English contribution to Canadian culture is undeniable. They brought with them a rich cultural heritage, including English Literature: Canadian authors, such as L.M. Montgomery and Stephen Leacock, were heavily influenced by British literary traditions. Music and Arts: British music, art, and architecture have had a lasting impact on Canadian culture, evident in the works of Canadian artists like the Group of Seven. Sports: The British love of sports, Football, Rugby, Cricket, Boxing, Billiards, Badminton, Darts, Table-Tennis, Snooker, Ping pong – 1880s, Bowls, Field hockey – 19th century, Netball, etc.
April 6th. National Tartan Day: National Tartan Day in 2025 is on Sunday, April 6. It commemorates the day that the Declaration of Arbroath (or the Scottish Declaration of Independence) was signed in 1320. The celebration honors the Scottish heritage flowing through the Canada and the estimated millions of Canadians who claim Scottish descent.
