Happiness is …… SCOTTISH COUNTRY DANCING
You do not have to be Scottish to enjoy the great melodies and toe tapping beat of traditional Scottish music. You do not have to wear a kilt nor do you need a partner, though of course they are welcome too. You do not need any experience, however you do need to be fit, want to enjoy the sociability of Scottish Country Dancing and most importantly, want to have fun.
Scottish Country Dancing is social dancing, similar to square dancing but should not be confused with Highland dancing. It is a great form of aerobic exercise, offering both a physical and mental challenge. It is not expensive, after all we are Scottish! Groups can be found around the world- including here in Vernon! It offers a chance for lots of fun and the pleasure of achievement while enjoying the social interactivity of meeting other dancers.
No special attire is required other than a pair of soft-soled, flat shoes. Wear clothes that are comfortable to you and allow you to move freely.
Scottish Country Dancing is for all ages and all levels of dance experience from those who have never danced before to those who did it in school.
Come along and find out what it is all about- we’re sure you will get hooked!
