SUMMARY:Closing Candlelight Ceremony for the Field of Crosses\, Kelowna 2024
DESCRIPTION:A special Candlelight Ceremony will also be held on Sunday November 10 at 5:00 pm which the public is invited to attend along with families representing descendants of the fallen named on the crosses. \nThe Okanagan Military Museum Society\, the Kelowna Museums Society\, the Rotary Club of Kelowna\, the\nRoyal Canadian Legion Br. 26\, and like-minded community organizations and vendors wish to\ncollaborate to present the annual Field of Crosses to complement Kelowna’s annual Remembrance and\nCommemoration traditions in November.\nThe visual display of crosses\, with names and details of Kelowna’s Fallen in the 20th century\, represents\nthe cemeteries overseas in which they reside. The unique interactive educational program\, aimed at\nmiddle school students\, offers an in-class biographical study package for students to explore the service\nof those named on Kelowna’s cenotaph and a tour of the Okanagan Military Museum. Students from\nparticipating schools will visit the Field of Crosses for a guided tour after reviewing information and\nartifacts at the Okanagan Military Museum. \nThe Okanagan Military Museum Society and Kelowna Museums wish to thank the\nmany volunteers and vendors who work together each year to make this important event possible.
