This one day event will celebrate Scottish culture with Bagpiping, Drumming, Highland Dancing and Heavy Events competitions along with other activities that will include: Celtic entertainment, children’s activities, Clan information, clothing and equipment booths, food vendors, Scotch tastings, and fun for the whole family.
For the Penticton Scottish Festival Society, 2020 started out with a very successful “Celebration of Robert Burns” held at the Penticton Lakeside Resort. Despite the arrival of COVID, the Society has continued to be active, planning a virtual concert for release on Shaw Cable TV on St. Andrew’s Day. We are very fortunate that one of our Directors is a videographer & is recording various local Celtic groups’ performing/practicing & interesting topics (Chef Chris making Haggis Tarts & Scotch Eggs, Drum Major Skills, Judging Competitive Pipers). The Society feels it’s important to keep it’s name in the public, even with current health restrictions. The Society knows there will be no Burns Night in 2021 but is hopeful the Festival will be a go in July, although possibly re-worked within existing restrictions.
